Mean Mums

I would imagine that like me you too get sent inspirational emails.  I was fortunate enough to have been sent the following from many of my readers.  As I read it my heart is pulled in many directions and I can see it from every angle.  I decided to share this with you because as a mother I needed the reassurance that I aren’t as bad as I sometimes appear to be, if you get my drift.

Mean Mums

Someday when my children are old enough to
understand the logic that motivates a parent, I will
tell them, as my Mean Mum told me: I loved you
enough . . . to ask where you were going, with whom,
and what time you would be home.I loved you enough to be silent and let you
discover that your new best friend was a creep.
I loved you enough to stand over you for two hours
while you cleaned your room, a job that should have taken 15 minutes.
I loved you enough to let you see anger,
disappointment, and tears in my eyes. Children must
learn that their parents aren’t perfect.
I loved you enough to let you assume the
responsibility for your actions even when the
penalties were so harsh they almost broke my heart.
But most of all, I loved you enough . . . (more…)

Happy New Year

Well here I am 4pm on Jan 1st 2009.  I had a wonderful New Years eve celebrating with friends and watched Australia ring in the New Year in true style, the fireworks in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth were a real pleasure to watch, and a real credit to the pyrotechnic crews that created the displays, I am not much of a crowd person so I am content to watch and create my own atmosphere.   What did you do and where did you celebrate New Year’s?  Did you get to see Australia’s fireworks?

This morning I joined friends to catch the new Yes Man movie and then we decided that we would watch Bedtime Stories as well.  Great movies and although the movie theatre was somewhat deserted, it was good to see the first showing of Yes Man before the hordes of fans surfaced.

Bedtime Stories was equally as impressive, I do love a good comedy.  What about the eyes on that guinea pig!! Scary!  Can you imagine if life was really like that?  It would put a new spin on dreaming, and of course manipulating your dreams!

Anyway, I wish you all a very prosperous 2009 and check out these movies and let me kown what you thought of them.
