Giving back to Society
Giving back to Society
I am not sure about you, but I always knew there were people out there doing really great things for the community, the country and the world. I had never met any of them, but I would see them working tirelessly to ensure our lives and homes were protected at any cost. Until recently I didn’t give them much thought. I suppose that was extremely selfish on my part. I would donate money to the current world crisis and that was pretty much it as far as I was concerned. But there is a lot more to it.
I want to mention them individually because they are our unsung heroes, these totally dedicated community service personnel from the:
· Police Service
· Fire Service
· Ambulance Service
· Emergency Services
o Search and Rescue
o Earthquakes
o Bushfires
o Flood and storm
When was the last time you said thank you for what these amazing people do for the community. When was the last time you donated money or advocated to support them as they fight repeatedly for a pay rise?
These community spirited devotees work under enormous pressure to save lives, homes and cities. Their commitment, courage and devotion is testament to their selfless reputation. Let’s not forget those who work for Red Cross, UNICEF, World Vision, and other charities that rely on our donations to keep aid going to destinations that require assistance to survive. The devotion and dedication of those amazing individuals who risk their lives everyday in foreign countries, because they see the need to educate and feed people who are unable to do this themselves. Last but not least, I have to mention our servicemen and women who patrol our county ensuring that we are safe. For those of you who are fighting someone else’s war, your loyalty is not forgotten.
Once again, I ask you, when was the last time you acknowledged these unsung heroes?
What about becoming one of them and giving back to society? Imagine the enormous satisfaction in helping to make a difference in your community, city or country.
Many of these organisations rely on volunteers. All they ask for is a few hours of your time.
What are you doing with your spare time? Could you spare just a few hours a week to give to someone less fortunate than yourself?
I am doing my part. I have to admit it took a few years to decide what I felt comfortable doing and I looked into many different organisations. You have to enjoy what you do, so consider your options carefully.
Leave a comment and share what you are doing to give back to society. You may just have the answer that someone hasn’t thought of yet.
Your Destiny Unfolds
With Rodney & Vicki

I wrote this article ages ago, and thought it appropriate to publish now as Victoria is suffering deeply with the devastating havoc the bushfires have caused.
My heart goes out to everyone touched by this horrific incident, as the death toll rises and visions of destruction as houses, towns and communities are burned to the ground. I cannot imagine what these survivors are thinking as they stand numb and lifeless in disbelief, wondering what and how they can rebuild their lives.
